Architecture- and Design-Savvy Copywriter, Branded Content
We are a print and online design magazine in our fourth decade of publication. In our coverage of “design at all scales,” topics of architecture, urban planning, interior design, product design, furniture, lighting, and tech get contextualized within broader social, cultural, and political conversations.
About the Work
We are looking to engage a freelance writer for ongoing content development projects. Primary among these, is our Branded Content program, which delivers meticulously crafted, compelling, editorial style articles posted on our website on behalf of advertisers. The ideal Branded Content article tells a tight, captivating story which strikes a delicate balance between the client’s pitch and Metropolis’ editorial voice. Articles range across design-related subject matter and easily appeal to architects and interior designers - our primary readers.

You are fluent in at least some design related topics, especially as they pertain to architecture, interior design, product design, lighting, furniture, and so on.
You understand the editorial “voice” of the magazine.
You are comfortable working with advertisers’ press releases but know that a good story requires more.
You are an experienced and efficient interviewer who is as comfortable extracting narrative-driven quotes from publicists as you are with an architect who wants to wax poetic.
You take feedback easily and resolve editors’ or clients’ comments quickly.
