Senior News Editor and Writer
SENIOR NEWS EDITOR AND WRITER, to join MIT Sloan in launching a new, editorial-driven website section, Ideas Made to Matter. Will serve as an editorial decision-maker, assigning and editing work by news writers and freelance writers. The beats are finance and economics and global impact. Specific tasks include assigning, editing, reporting, and writing news articles; developing expert sources; contributing to an editorial calendar; conducting traffic and audience analysis to inform future work; developing content for social media networks; and collaborating on photography and design ideas.
The position is ideal for a skilled news editor and writer who finds surprising insights in academic research, has an eye for exciting new ideas and technologies, and brings global business leaders knowledge they need to build and manage innovative companies.
The position is located in Cambridge’s Kendall Square, one of the most innovative neighborhoods in the country.

REQUIRED: at least five years of journalism and editing experience at a business, science, or technology publication; experience editing staff writers and/or freelance writers; experience writing for web audiences and with social media distribution in mind; experience packaging news for digital consumption; strong writing, editing, and copyediting skills; careful attention to detail; knowledge of Associated Press style; familiarity with content management systems and email distribution software; solid editorial judgment and a commitment to accuracy and engaging, meaningful content; understanding of design and photography best practices and tools; and an understanding of analytics and tools for measuring impact and reach of content.
