Job Summary:
As an associate producer for NBC News Health and Medical Unit, you will work directly with producers, senior producers and correspondent to help pitch, write and produce health news content for Nightly News, Weekend Nightly News, TODAY, Weekend TODAY, MSNBC and NBC News.com

Job Duties:
  • Assist with full scope of production including research, booking, and pre-interviewing
  • Gather visual elements and assist with editing for segment production
  • Coordinate with technical and operations staff and outside resources selected by producers
  • Coordinate production of live health segments for TODAY
  • Coordinate Medical Correspondent live shots for MSNBC


  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Must have at least two years’ editorial experience working in production preferably at the network level or in health journalism.
    • Must have a Bachelor’s degree
    • Must be proficient in Outlook and iNews
    • Must be willing and able to travel and work flexible hours
    • Must be able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice, if needed
    • Must be willing to work overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, often with short notice

    Desired Characteristics
    • Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in health and medical news
    • Strong journalistic writing skills, research skills, and editorial judgment
    • DV shooting experience
    • Knowledge of non-linear editing systems including Avid
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
    • Knowledge of NBC News Policies and Guidelines and Practices
