Broadway.com is seeking a NYC-based eager and creative Editorial Assistant who loves live theater and people who make it.
The Editorial Assistant will have hands-on experience with all phases of the editorial, production, photo and video departments. Strong writing skills are a must, as well as knowledge of the Broadway scene and its players. Daily responsibilities will be assisting the Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor and other editors as needed, in addition to writing news and features on a daily basis. The Editorial Assistant will also be expected to pitch and execute original ideas regularly, and have a creative mind to keep the content on the site always moving forward.
The ideal candidate should have a passion for entertainment and the kind of content that Broadway.com creates, with the vision of making the theater scene exciting and accessible. They should not only care about what’s happening on Broadway, but on the pop culture scene at large.
Please be creative, clever and forward-thinking, with excellent writing skills.
- Assisting the Broadway.com editorial team on a daily basis.
- Writing news and feature stories.
- Interviewing theater makers and creating exciting content.
- Conceiving and pitching articles.
- Building photo galleries with captions.
- Transcribing interviews and other audio files.
- Creating closed captioning files for videos.
- Covering live events as a reporter.
- Creating photo art for articles in Adobe PhotoShop.
- Proofing content on the site.
- Assisting content producers in creation of articles and videos.
