Job Summary
The J. Paul Getty Trust, one of the world's most influential cultural and philanthropic institutions dedicated to advancing access to visual arts, is currently seeking a Vice President of Communications and Community Engagement (VP). Reporting to and working closely with the Getty's President and CEO, the VP will lead and oversee the development and execution of communication and marketing strategies, ensuring that the entire range of Getty's identity is communicated effectively and that messages are well-received and in a global context, align with diverse cultural norms. Leading a team of 44, the VP will manage public relations efforts, incorporating awareness of geopolitical events and trends; maintain Getty's brand domestically and internationally, and across diverse markets; and oversee Getty's digital presence and social media strategies that resonate locally, nationally, and globally.Additionally, the VP will lead and expand Getty's engagement with the Los Angeles community, working in collaboration with colleagues to build positive relationships that support Getty's goals and further the institution's connections with the diverse local community as well as with other cultural and education organizations and institutions.**Getty has engaged

Manage and protect Getty's brand identity and reputation.
Review/enhance existing-or develop new-crisis communication plans and protocols to ensure effective communication during challenging situations. Anticipate, manage, and lead crisis communications.Lead and manage a team of professionals responsible for various aspects of communications and community engagement, creating and maintaining an environment that fosters a high-performing learning culture, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.Provide leadership in building and maintaining a diverse workforce, ensuring an environment of inclusivity, and belonging.Plan and ensure execution of outreach programs that engage diverse community groups and promote Getty's initiatives.Identify opportunities for community involvement and collaboration to enhance the organization's reputation and impact.Serve as a spokesperson for the organization, representing its values and mission to external stakeholders and the public.Qualifications
Intellectually curious with a genuine interest in/passion for Getty's mission and values.Prior experience, including at least 5 years at an executive level in corporate/organization/university communications and community engagement or closely related roles, with a track record of success in building strong community partnerships.A graduate degree in a relevant field.An inspiring leader able to demonstrate a genuine commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.Track record of developing and implementing multifaceted strategic marketing and communication plans that position and elevate the perception of a complex institution.Full understanding of the content creation process from creative conceptualization to fulfillment, including expert knowledge of traditional and new media and the latest tools for social media outreach.***Los Angeles area residency is required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated experience and outstanding abilities in strategic leadership, operational management/administration including managing budgets and resources, and skilled at developing effective working relationships within a complex environment as well as with external partners.Demonstrated ability in managing and developing a team-attracting, retaining, and growing talent through performance management, goal setting, and accountability.Knowledge of community development principles, best practices, and current trends.Familiarity with cultural arts and/or educational not-for-profit organizations is preferred.Strong work ethic and the willingness and ability to regularly participate in evening and weekend events, as require**Getty has engaged
