Event Technician, Audio Visual - (Part Time) - Westin Tampa Waterside role at Encore
A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic/small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.
Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation: Ensure setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications.
- Customer Service: Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers; maintain positive relationships with clients through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and equipment is working properly; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; foster the hotel/client relationship.
- Technical Ability: Understand the technical aspects of the job; demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
- Systems Knowledge: Understand company processes, follow procedures, and complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to determine equipment scheduled for setup and strike; interact with staff and outside vendors for equipment; use up-selling techniques; work with clients to finalize invoices; complete order entries in Navigator as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Achieve Technical Level 3 Certification within 180 days (as per Encore Technical Skillset Matrix).
- 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
- 1 year of audiovisual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
- A valid driver’s license required for team members who may operate Company vehicles.
- Additional DOT requirement may apply if applicable.

Work Environment
- Hotel/convention center environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures, dust, and/or dirt.
- Working conditions range from moderately quiet to noisy; high-end AV equipment and electrical components; potential exposure to heights via lifts and ladders.
- May work at multiple hotel locations with irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Appearance guidelines apply as defined by Encore or the represented hotels.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly Pay Range: $15.09 - $18.49
- Compensation is based on location, experience, and skills; may include overtime, bonuses or incentives where applicable.
