Purpose
Supporting various high-profile media clients, NEP Group is seeking a broadcast-based Technician for our Network Operations Center (NOC) to join our Connected Solutions team in Dallas, TX. This team manages and monitors inbound/outbound transmission, ad insertion, feed routing, and overall video/audio/caption quality for marquee sporting events and other live content. The Technician will join this expanding team, providing support and maintenance activities to meet client requirements and operate up to NEP standards. This position requires schedule flexibility, including weekends, late nights, and holidays. We seek a driven, self-motivated individual who is well-organized and can remain calm and focused under pressure.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Vigilantly protect live streams by simulating the viewer experience and checking for proper audio, video, closed captioning, and picture quality.
- Switch contribution feeds for games in various languages (on MCR count).
- Monitor commercial playout and modify playlists as needed.
- Identify system failures or quality issues and execute manual failovers if necessary.
- Follow feed check-in procedures to confirm end-to-end signal integrity.
- Set up and test systems with clients prior to live air events.
- Monitor games and escalate any issues to the Supervisor on shift.
- Maintain the continuity and availability of live broadcasts.
- Count in and out of Studio & Truck segments and commercial breaks.
- Work as part of a team to recover from on-air discrepancies under guidance from Supervisors and Engineers.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate to Engineers or providers.
- Report and document technical issues, including logging on-air discrepancies.
- Operate all broadcast equipment within assigned areas.
- Engage proactively with Supervisors to develop expertise and learn new skills.
Position Requirements
- Schedule flexibility, including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work well under pressure during live television broadcasts.
- General understanding of broadcast routers, video/audio monitoring, playout/ad insertion, and other TV technology.
- Ability to read scopes and basic understanding of broadcast and streaming systems.
- Team-oriented with willingness to learn new skills and adapt to change.
- Strong communication skills in English; Spanish and/or French are beneficial.
- Knowledge of sports is a plus.
- 2-4 years of experience and a 4-year degree or additional relevant experience.
