Overview
Job Title: Audio and Video Production/Graphic Design Teacher
Reports to: Campus Principal/CTE Coordinator
Dept. /School: Assigned Campus
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Date Revised: 5/16/2025
Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred) or a degree in the subject area with at least 3 years of work experience in the field, including industry certifications.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate or accepted by an approved ACP for technology applications, industrial technology, or trade and industrial education (preferred).
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of art, audio/video production, animation, and graphic design.
- Ability to obtain industry certifications.
- Instructional and behavioral management skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
At least one year of student teaching or approved internship and work experience in audio/video production (preferred).
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, demonstrating preparation.
- Design lessons accommodating different learning styles.
- Present subject matter following TEA, district, and school policies.
- Use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and technology.
- Assess student learning styles and adapt instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with special education staff for curriculum modifications per IEPs.
- Coordinate with staff to set instructional goals and methods.
- Supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
- Integrate technology to enhance learning.
Student Growth and Development
- Assist students in improving study habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement.
- Supervise extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities.
- Serve as a positive role model and support district mission.
Classroom Management and Organization
- Create a conducive learning environment.
- Manage student behavior per Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Ensure safety and security of students and equipment.
- Participate in selection of instructional materials.
Communication
- Maintain open communication with parents, students, and staff through conferences.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and community.
- Communicate clearly and effectively.
Professional Growth and Development
- Engage in staff development activities.
Other
- Adhere to regulations and policies.
- Maintain required reports and records.
- Attend meetings and serve on committees.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent physical activity including standing, stooping, bending, and moving classroom materials.
