Andrew Sullivan Says Adios to Daily Beast

Andrew Sullivan is leaving The Daily Beast and taking his operation to a “reader-supported model” that will charge readers $19.99 a year for access. Before The Daily Beast, Sullivan partnered with TIME and The Atlantic. By the way, if you think his blog operation is worth more, you will also be able to pay more than $19.99 if you so desire.

See the report by Talking Points Memo.

In a letter to readers on The Daily Beast today, Sullivan rambles on for seven graphs before he announces that he’s taking his blog, The Daily Dish, solo… Graph #8: “The only completely clear and transparent way to do this, we concluded, was to become totally independent of other media entities and rely entirely on you for our salaries, health insurance, and legal, technological and accounting expenses.” The URL will be www.andrewsullivan.com.
