Prankster Trips up Roll Call Scribe

Late last night the SEIU announced that they were withdrawing their endorsement of President Obama. But the release was fake. TPM reported at 1:55 a.m. that just after 1 a.m. the debacle was “over” and the faux story was officially declared false. Journos like NJ‘s Marc Ambinder and Politico‘s Ben Smith also learned it was a hoax.

Not Roll Call‘s Christina Bellantoni, a Harvard fellow, who as late as this morning at 5:51 a.m. put up a whole story on it. The story declared that the withdrawal was “stunning” and could “hamper” the President’s ability to get reelected. By 6:15 a.m. her story was amended and the news rightfully blamed on a prankster.
