Roll Call Editor Resigns

This just in…

Charlie Mitchell, Editor of Roll Call, has resigned. A search is underway to find a new editor. Here’s the internal memo from CQ-Roll Call Editorial Director Mike Mills:

It is with sadness that I announce that Charlie Mitchell, Roll Call’s Editor since February 2007, is resigning to pursue other opportunities. I have enormous respect for Charlie and we share a desire to see Roll Call reach its full potential, both as the leading publication covering Congress and Washington, as well as being a distinct yet integrated part of our soon-to-be-united CQ-Roll Call newsroom. Charlie joined Roll Call in December 2006 as deputy editor, and soon became a rock-solid steward of the publication, as well as a strong advocate for the mission and values that have made Roll Call a must-read since 1955. Under Charlie’s command, the Roll Call team has produced high-quality journalism, including often-groundbreaking coverage of leadership, ethics, lobbying and the Capitol Hill campus, as well as award-winning photography and video. He guided the newsroom during some exciting, and occasionally challenging, times — including last year’s merger of CQ and Roll Call, the terrific redesign of Roll Call newspaper and the upcoming launch of a new — with his positive, unflappable demeanor and a steady editing hand. I thank Charlie for all of his hard work and his many contributions and accomplishments. And I know we all wish him success in his next pursuits.
