How To Apply for the Innovations in Reading Prize

The National Book Foundation has opened its Innovations in Reading Prize for the fifth year, giving up to $2,500 to efforts “that have developed innovative means of creating and sustaining a lifelong love of reading.”

Follow this link to download the application form. You must apply before February 20, 2013. The winning individuals will get a free trip to New York City, attending all the National Book Awards Week events.  Here’s more about the award, from the release:

The most important criteria for selecting winners are creativity, risk-taking, and a visionary quality, as well as a novel way of presenting books and literature. The Prize is less focused on the promotion of basic literacy and the pedagogy of reading than on the promotion of reading for its own sake. Winners will be announced to the public on May 8, 2013 and featured in an article to be included in the Foundation’s monthly eNewsletter, posted on Facebook and Tumblr, and tweeted to over 233,000 followers, as well as published on the National Book Foundation’s Innovations in Reading webpage.
