Harper Lures Jennifer Barth from HoltHenry Holt editor-in-chief Jennifer Barth is moving uptown to HarperCollins in mid-January; she'll become the VP/executive editor of the Harper imprint, reporting directly to publisher Jonathan Burnham. Barth brings with her a reputation for acquiring writers who combine literary prestige with commercial viability, including Paul Auster, Jacqueline Winspear, Stacy Schiff, and Zoe Heller. In her last summer at Holt, Barth signed up a bunch of market-friendly nonfiction, including Nick Heil's book about Mount Everest based on an article he wrote for Men's Journal and Sports Illustrated writer Austin Murphy's look at the 2006 college football season and the Notre Dame/USC rivalry (about which, this year's game, the less said around me the better, but oh well). Oh, and the new book from Helen Fisher, once again looking at the science of love. Email This Post |
