SnapMyLife Makes Sharing Mobile Pix a Snap

Camera phone addicts who don't have enough ways to share their pictures now have a new option. SnapMyLife, a brand new mobile social media site, is now live after a three-month testing period.

family picture JIU.jpgIn March, during the test phase, the site saw some 500,000 unique visitors from 180 countries and served up more than four million page views.

SnapMyLife accepts photos via MMS, e-mail and uploads from the Web and mobile Web. According to the company, there's no need to ever get a PC involved - uploading, sharing, alerts and commenting can all be achieved right on the phone.

The service wants to remain family-friendly, so it uses some filtering technology to reduce the risk of, um, mature content.

MyShow Lets You Create Mobile Slideshows from Anywhere

MyShow-Phone.jpgMobile content portal FunMobility has unveiled MyShow, which it says is the first user-generated mobile slideshow publishing application. MyShow is accessible both on the Web and on mobile, so users can browse content, create slideshows and share their "life stream" from anywhere.

The app lets users automatically put together a slideshow around pictures stored in a camera phone, personalize a mobile slideshow with text and background music and upload pictures from the MyShow Web site to add to a mobile slideshow or create the slideshow on a PC. There's also a MyShow widget that they can embed on their Facebook, MySpace or other social networking site.

FunMobility said MyShow will debut with a U.S. carrier by April 30, but it didn't specify which carrier that would be or when other operators might pick it up.

Moblastic Buy Brings Bling to FunMobility

Mobile content and services provider FunMobility has acquired Moblastic, a mobile social company that specializes in "innovative photo editing technology with mobile capabilities." That essentially boils down into letting users add bling - animated glitter and sparkles, text bubbles and other doodads - to their pictures and send them to any phone. It also brings a live Facebook app and mobile slideshow technology.

FunMobility sees the buy as a way to speed its push into the direct-to-consumer space by providing cool Web functionality to mobile users.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
