Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to student needs.
  2. Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  3. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to foster an effective learning environment.
  4. Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth; keep records and prepare progress reports.
  5. Identify pupil needs; make referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans.
  6. Communicate regularly with parents via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, and conferences.
  7. Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.
  8. Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices.
  9. Engage in professional learning communities.
  10. Integrate technology into instruction.
  11. Perform other similar duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
  2. Support and communicate with other staff and administrators.
  3. Respond to emergency situations.
  4. Follow school district policies.
  5. Plan and coordinate work of paraprofessionals and volunteers.
  6. Contribute to goal-setting for paraprofessionals.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to teach general FACS courses, specifically Fashion Design.
  • Proficiency in operating computers, software, and classroom technology.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the community.
  • Maintain professionalism and composure in various situations.
  • Show initiative and be a self-starter.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
