Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to student needs.
- Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to foster an effective learning environment.
- Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth; keep records and prepare progress reports.
- Identify pupil needs; make referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans.
- Communicate regularly with parents via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, and conferences.
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices.
- Engage in professional learning communities.
- Integrate technology into instruction.
- Perform other similar duties as assigned.
Specific Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
- Support and communicate with other staff and administrators.
- Respond to emergency situations.
- Follow school district policies.
- Plan and coordinate work of paraprofessionals and volunteers.
- Contribute to goal-setting for paraprofessionals.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to teach general FACS courses, specifically Fashion Design.
- Proficiency in operating computers, software, and classroom technology.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the community.
- Maintain professionalism and composure in various situations.
- Show initiative and be a self-starter.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
