License Required: Minnesota 5-12 Family and Consumer Sciences

Compensation: View the 2024-25 teacher salary schedule in Appendix -a-, Schedule A. This position is not eligible for medical or dental benefits.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to student needs.
  2. Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  3. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to foster an effective learning environment.
  4. Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
  5. Identify pupil needs, make referrals, and develop strategies for individual education plans.
  6. Communicate regularly with parents via Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, and conferences.
  7. Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.
  8. Participate in professional development activities to stay current with teaching practices.
  9. Integrate technology into instruction.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in a fast-paced environment interacting with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
  • Support and communicate with administrators and staff.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Follow school district policies.
  • Coordinate work of paraprofessionals and volunteers as needed.
  • Contribute to goal-setting for paraprofessionals.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to teach general FACS courses, specifically Fashion Design.
  • Proficiency in operating computers and classroom technology.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the community.
  • Maintain professionalism in diverse situations.
  • Show initiative and self-motivation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction and work direction.
