Riverside Presbyterian Church is seeking musical leadership for our vibrant and welcoming music ministry. We’re looking for someone who will embrace our mission of
“Growing Together as Followers of Jesus,”
drawing on a variety of musical gifts to support our intergenerational congregation. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide choral, organ and/or other instrumental music for all worship services during the year, coordinating with the pastors on music selection and participation of respective choirs. Serve as a resource for all music-related matters in the church. Lead and Develop the following choirs: Chancel (adult) choir Youth choirs (optional) Bell Choir (optional) Special Musical Presentations Organize and lead at least one annual outreach concert, (currently portions of Handel’s “Messiah” with professional orchestra and festival chorus) Other special music as needed Weddings and Funerals Right of first refusal to play for all weddings and funerals and availability as an advisor for appropriate music. Compensation is outlined in wedding and funeral policies. Substitutes Arrange for substitutes during vacation periods or other absences Administration Coordinate the purchase and maintenance of musical supplies and equipment, including scheduling of piano and organ tunings. Attend and participate in meetings of the Church Staff. Attend meetings of the Music & Worship Committee when requested. Submit a budget request for musical expenses and responsibly manage those funds. Provide written material for inclusion in the weekly newsletter in a timely fashion. Submit an annual report. The church is open to dividing this position into two roles, such as Choir Director & Pianist/Organist.
