Outdoor Cap is seeking a Retail Marketing Lead to guide the vision and execution of marketing campaigns for our retail division. This role is made for someone who’s deeply connected to the outdoor world—whether through personal experience, lifestyle, or previous work—and understands how to reach outdoor consumers through authentic, engaging campaigns.
In this role, you’ll lead brand storytelling, campaign development, shopper marketing, and digital shelf optimization for major retail partners. You’ll also be the bridge between our internal teams and outdoor retailers—helping us bring our mission to life: to be the most respected headwear company in the outdoor and active lifestyle markets.
This isn’t just a desk job. It's an opportunity to champion the products that outdoor enthusiasts wear on every summit, river trip, and backcountry trail.
Key Responsibilities
Campaign Strategy & Execution
Lead retail campaigns that resonate with outdoor consumers and align with retailer goals. Craft messaging that speaks to trailblazers, anglers, campers, hunters, and anyone who thrives outside.
Outdoor Retail Partnerships & Sponsorships
Build relationships with outdoor-focused retailers, events, and influencers. Manage sponsorships tied to outdoor communities—whether that’s through grassroots events, pro staff programs, or brand ambassadors.
Shopper Marketing for the Outdoor Consumer
Create in-store and online marketing experiences that drive sales in outdoor specialty shops and mass retailers alike. Activate co-branded promotions, point-of-sale assets, and in-store displays tailored to the outdoor lifestyle.
Digital Shelf & Content Management
Optimize our digital shelf presence on platforms like REI, Academy, Amazon, and Walmart to ensure product storytelling is conversion-ready.
Social & Experiential Marketing
Support content and social strategies that amplify our position in the outdoor community. Collaborate on outdoor-specific campaigns with influencers, athletes, and digital creators who speak authentically to this audience.
Skills & Competencies
Deep knowledge of and connection to the outdoor industry (e.g., hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, overlanding, or general outdoor lifestyle). Track record of retail or B2C marketing success, ideally within outdoor, sports, or lifestyle brands. Proven leadership in campaign development, cross-functional teamwork, and brand-building. Ability to work across channels—from retail floors to social feeds—to connect with outdoor customers where they are.
Qualifications
3–5 years of marketing experience, ideally in the outdoor, retail apparel, or lifestyle goods sector. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field. Experience with marketing tools and platforms (Google Ads, Meta, Salesforce, TikTok Business Manager, etc.). Familiarity with outdoor retail platforms such as Walmart Connect, Amazon Advertising, and B2B marketplaces like Faire.com is a plus. Ability to travel 10–20% to visit retailers, attend trade shows, and immerse yourself in the outdoor industry firsthand.
Who You Are
You’ve worked in or around the outdoor industry—maybe as a marketer, maybe as a guide, athlete, retailer, or enthusiast. You understand the culture of the outdoors and know how to talk to real people living that lifestyle. You’re organized, proactive, collaborative, and know how to make things happen with a small but mighty team. You’re excited to make a lasting mark on a legacy brand that’s growing in the outdoor space.
