General Description: Outside Commercial Lines sales position responsible for driving business sales, retention, and growing existing client revenue. Manage client relationships and drive profitability, satisfaction, and organic growth.

Responsibilities:

  1. Achieve annualized new business sales of $175k in our target market of companies with at least $10mm in sales within a specific industry.
  2. Collaborate with Practice Leader to declare a primary industry specialization (vertical). May also choose a secondary vertical aligned with the primary.
  3. With leadership and account management support, retain at least 92% of business year over year.
  4. Meet new business activity and appointment quality goals.
  5. Use USI resources to research prospects and develop customized messaging.
  6. Explain USI’s competitive advantages to clients and prospects.
  7. Develop sales plans and utilize effective prospecting strategies.
  8. Innovate using market knowledge and technical insurance expertise.
  9. Participate in vertical meetings and video calls.
  10. Prepare for appointments, and focus on advancing, closing, and retaining business.
  11. Utilize USI’s contact management and sales automation tools accurately and timely.
  12. Engage in industry training and sales support programs.
  13. Identify cross-selling opportunities to strengthen client relationships.
  14. Collaborate with the account management team on significant client services.
  15. Demonstrate strong knowledge of competitors.
  16. Represent USI positively at meetings, seminars, trade shows, and networking events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Over 3 years of successful sales experience in an insurance brokerage.
  • Property & Casualty insurance license required.
  • Strong knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Positive, resourceful, and consultative approach.
  • Excellent listening skills with customer focus.
  • Ability to interact with senior management and exhibit executive presence.
