The Digital Producer leads the transition from broadcast-focused newsrooms to multi-platform newsrooms through active daily example; providing training in methods, processes, and tactics, as well as creating and editing original content beyond that produced for on-air.

Responsibilities include:

1. Developing and leading a winning strategy for station content
2. Having an expert understanding of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms
3. Reviewing copy and correcting errors in content, grammar, and punctuation, following editorial style and formatting guidelines
4. Using social media and website to build brand recognition and drive viewers to television
5. Determining story emphasis, length, and format, and organizing material accordingly
6. Researching background information related to news stories for accuracy
7. Gathering information through research, interviews, and attendance at events
8. Pitching on-brand local and trending stories during meetings
9. Checking reference materials for relevant facts
10. Shooting and editing content for on-air and digital platforms
11. Producing reports for all platforms
12. Ensuring content meets journalistic standards and quality
13. Building and managing digital campaigns to promote shows and specials
14. Writing stories for web and digital platforms
15. Performing other duties as assigned
16. Finding innovative ways to engage viewers via social media and the website

Requirements & Skills:

• Degree in journalism; experience with daily newspapers or news sites; live web samples or print pages preferred
• Proficiency in Associated Press style, Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and basic HTML preferred
• Knowledge of CSS, Flash, and related technologies is a plus
• Maintaining a positive work environment through teamwork and cooperation
• Responding positively to feedback
