About the Role

DramaBox is redefining scripted storytelling through high impact vertical short dramas and serialized digital content. We’re looking for a Content Strategist / Creative Executive who will play a key role in shaping our development slate by identifying compelling IP, tracking audience trends, and providing sharp creative support grounded in global and local insights.

This role serves as the strategic engine of our development team—someone who can bridge creative instincts with business goals, and offer both big-picture thinking and detail-level analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Source IP and story concepts from a wide range of materials, including international web novels, online fiction platforms, traditional books, real-life stories, and social media trends
  2. Analyze storytelling trends and content performance across U.S., Chinese, and global short drama platforms to identify high-potential story types, tropes, and genres
  3. Support writers and development executives by providing creative input and market-backed insights during brainstorming, outlining, and greenlight phases
  4. Identify audience-driven narrative frameworks—what makes a hook viral, a relationship compelling, or a twist irresistible
  5. Track genre shifts, audience appetite, and tropes in the U.S., China, and other major web drama markets
  6. Work with the Head of Development to help build and refine a balanced, trend-informed development slate

Qualifications

  1. Deep familiarity with web novels, serialized online fiction, and vertical short drama formats
  2. Strong understanding of story archetypes, character tropes, romantic and genre formulas that perform across both American and international audiences
  3. Knowledge of both U.S. and Chinese entertainment ecosystems—including platforms, IP formats, and audience behavior
  4. A sharp creative sensibility with the ability to analyze story structure, hooks, pacing, and emotional payoffs
  5. Background in content development, story editing, IP acquisition, publishing, or literary scouting is a plus
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  7. Fluent in English; Chinese language proficiency a plus but not required

You’ll Thrive in This Role If You…

  1. Love reading stories across formats—from Wattpad to XHS to NYT bestsellers
  2. Are equally excited by genre tropes and market data
  3. Have a brain that toggles between instinct and structure
  4. Understand both the addictive storytelling of vertical drama and the craft of traditional screenwriting
  5. Are curious, collaborative, and excited to help build something from the ground up
