The Court Reporter performs senior professional level duties on a day-to-day basis to achieve the short- and long-term goals of the work group.

  • Documents, maintains, and preserves required records and statistics related to departmental operations.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, statutes, regulations, and policies; updates staff or work group on changes.
  • Recommends and/or develops departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and updates files.
  • Manages special projects as directed.
  • Stenographically records testimony of all court proceedings as requested by attorneys and/or the Court.
  • Performs other related duties involved in the operation of the business as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • To apply, must have an Associate’s degree + three (3) full-time years of related work experience, OR
  • To apply, must have a High School Diploma or GED + five (5) full-time years of related work experience.
  • Must have and maintain a current certification by the State of Texas as a Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR). A CSR License is issued by the Texas Supreme Court upon completion of Court Reporting School and testing by the Texas Court Reporters Certification Board. Must provide licensing agency and license number in the application or be disqualified. If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment or licensure at onboarding.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires, including criminal background checks related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years. Checks may also include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic disqualification; each case is considered individually.

While performing duties, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk, climb, stoop, lift, push, and pull.
