We are presently seeking a remote Technical Specifications Writer to collaborate in delivering projects for world-class brands.

The Technical Specification Writer composes and supports the production of project manuals. This individual will utilize their knowledge of construction practices and materials to work on a variety of complex projects and building types, including office and commercial interiors, retail, and other diverse building types. The role also involves quality control and assurance tasks, reviewing building plans for industry standards, code compliance with state regulations, and local ordinances. The ideal candidate will be a lifelong learner who enjoys mentoring, collaboration, and serving as a technical resource for the firm.

Responsibilities include:

  • Under the guidance of the Director of Specifications, work independently with offices and teams to remotely coordinate, write, collaborate, and assemble technical project manuals following firm standards.
  • Work with project management staff to set appropriate fee allocation for specification services.

Education:

  • Professional architecture degree preferred, or related degree considered.
  • Architectural license preferred and/or CSI certification.
  • Advanced understanding of the architectural and construction principles found in the CSI Construction Specifications Practice Guide.

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience developing specifications on various project types, including large-scale ground-up new construction and smaller interior projects. Experience in Construction Contract Administration for commercial office and retail developments.
  • Experience in creating and delivering coordinated contract documents.
  • Proficient knowledge of building materials, codes, construction techniques, and material characteristics, performance, and compatibility.
  • Familiarity with AIA documents and Architects Standard of Care.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and mentorship skills to build rapport and trust with diverse personnel.
  • Experience with LEED, CalGreen, Well, and other sustainable rating systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills supporting a collaborative remote team environment, using MS Teams.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a geographically dispersed project team.
  • Proficiency in RIB Speclink Cloud, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
