This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
This position serves as the Marketing & Communication Specialist for the Office of Research and Innovation in the Office of Transportation System Management, communicating results, value, and benefits of the state and local transportation research program. In this role, you will:
- Develop and execute marketing and communications strategies to implement departmental objectives;
- Write, edit and produce a variety of marketing and communication products for various audiences including websites, blogs, newsletters, print, photos, videos, webinars and social media;
- Manage program website, SharePoint/Teams sites, social media channels, and other communication vehicles to facilitate program administration and share critical information and program news;
- Provide strategic communications counsel to Research & Innovation and Library staff and stakeholders; and,
- Monitor and track the effectiveness of technology transfer and other innovation program activities.
Occasional (up to 10%) in-state travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of professional communications experience that demonstrates the following:
- Experience writing and editing communications sufficient to develop and execute communication plans and strategies.
- Experience working across multiple platforms to achieve communication and/or technology transfer objectives.
- Experience in graphic design and web management.
- Experience in summarizing technical research information into various forms for non-technical audiences.
- Experience conducting effective meetings, giving presentations, and communicating verbally to small and large groups at all levels within the organization.
(*NOTE: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications or a closely related field substitutes for one year of professional experience.)
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the public service transportation sector
Adobe Creative Suite skills
Project and program management experience
Knowledge of ADA accessibility standards
