Paraeducator III - Library - Willamette Primary School
This is a 6 hr/day, 10 month position under the Classified Bargaining Unit for the 25-26 SY.
Please note: All Paraeducators in the first year are temporary.
DEFINITION
Under the supervision of a teacher or principal, works with and/or prepares material for children in the school library. Completes clerical responsibilities in the library, and performs related work as required. This position provides tutorial assistance to individuals and small groups across various subjects and education levels.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
An employee in this position is expected to help establish and maintain a positive learning environment, use initiative in responding to student needs, and discipline students when necessary.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Corrects mechanical errors in papers; assists students with assignments; types and copies materials; monitors classroom work; familiarizes with assignments to aid students; works individually with students at all levels; maintains classroom order; participates in testing and scoring; prepares instructional materials; enters student data; files correspondence; performs clerical tasks; shadows students to monitor behavior and relationships.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Business English, spelling, punctuation, mathematics
- Current office practices, procedures, keyboarding, equipment
- Familiarity with library systems (preferred)
Ability to:
- Follow oral and written instructions
- Establish harmonious relationships with students and staff
- Perform mathematical computations accurately and efficiently
- Perform word processing
- Respond to and direct students appropriately
- Maintain confidentiality in all work aspects
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. To be considered Highly Qualified, applicants must have an AA/AS degree, 72 credits, Paraeducator Program, or equivalent exam.
