Lead Operator, Parenteral Operations (Visual Inspection A Shift) — BioSpace

Lead Operator, Parenteral Operations (Visual Inspection A Shift) is a key role at Lilly, overseeing startup and ongoing manufacturing activities for parenteral (injectable) medicines. This position is part of a major expansion project to build a new, highly automated campus in Concord, North Carolina, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Travel may be required during project startup and for cross-site collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership on the manufacturing floor to maintain safety, quality, and productivity and ensure reliable supply of products to patients.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and support Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) goals.
  • Serve as administrator and technical lead for operations; model compliance with procedures and quality systems and train team members.
  • Act as the primary resource for issue escalation and troubleshooting on the shop floor.
  • Administer technical training and ensure all operators are trained to perform tasks.
  • Operate equipment and perform activities to meet the production schedule; review execution documentation (Electronic Batch Records, SAP, Cleaning Logs).
  • Drive key departmental objectives, including safety improvements, deviation reductions, productivity gains, and training compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED. STEM degree or certification may be required for senior/lead levels.
  • Strong communication skills (electronic, written, verbal) and the ability to troubleshoot and triage challenges.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with SAP and Electronic Batch Records is advantageous.
  • Experience in automated, semi-automated, and/or manual parenteral manufacturing environments; CGMP knowledge; familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) and working in highly automated environments.
  • Ability to work overtime, wear cleanroom attire, and operate in a Grade C ISO 8 cleanroom environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically (2–4 week projects or 3–12 month assignments) and internationally as needed for collaboration and training.
  • Authorized to work in the United States; Lilly does not anticipate sponsorship for employment visas for this position.

Time Commitments and Travel

Project startup travel may be required; short-term or long-term assignments domestically or internationally may be needed.

Compensation and Benefits

Estimated compensation: $25.60 – $42.67 per hour. Full-time employees are eligible for a company bonus and a comprehensive benefits program, including 401(k), pension, vacation, medical/dental/vision and prescription drug benefits, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and wellbeing programs.
