Part-Time Legal Multimedia Capture Specialist
Neal R. Gross and Co. is a leading Court Reporting and Transcription services company based in the Washington, DC area. As a trained Legal Multimedia Capture Specialist, you will use specialized equipment to record proceedings in legal courts and Congressional committee hearings. You will attend various legal proceedings and take notes to enable later transcription (completed by a transcriptionist). This position requires a focused and motivated candidate with the ability to work in an autonomous setting. The role will primarily involve legal operations work with about 20% A/V responsibilities.
No prior A/V, legal operations, or court reporting experience is required. Neal R. Gross and Co. (NRGCo) provides comprehensive paid training, and all equipment, hardware, and software are provided.

Location: This is an in-person role at 1716 14th St NW Ste. 200, Washington, DC 20009. You will travel to client locations throughout the D.C. metropolitan region.
Hours: The role is flexible. We require 10-20 hours per week (Monday–Friday), typically 2-10 hours per day.
Responsibilities
- Represent the company professionally at proceedings across multiple locations (primarily in the DMV area, with opportunities for domestic and international travel).
- Operate audio/video equipment to record client activities, including:
- Set up equipment professionally and digitally record and report proceedings
- Position microphones for optimal audio capture
- Establish appropriate video framing and keep video in line with legal videography norms
- Continuously mix audio tracks and monitor for interference
- Actively track and log key events during proceedings, including spellings, exhibit introductions, and objections.
- Swear in deponents and faithfully capture testimony under oath during depositions and other proceedings.
- Interact with high-level clients (Federal Government, State Government, Private Industry).
- Develop and maintain a solid understanding of audio/video technology, the legal field, and company processes.
- Proofread to ensure quality control on final work product.
- Write executive summaries and meeting minutes for a variety of proceedings.
