Overview
PUBLIC RELATIONS: Adjunct / Substitute Non-Classroom Instructor Pool (college credit) – San Diego Community College District. This is a continuous adjunct pool for part-time/substitute positions on the three SDCCD campuses; postings are open until filled and only used when there are assignments. If you meet the minimum qualifications, your application may be considered for assignments in the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters. Applications are purged approximately one year after submission, with an automated notice to re-apply if you wish to remain in the pool.
Part-time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to work with a diverse student body. Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, and/or off-campus classes. Applicants should live within commuting distance of San Diego.
Major Responsibilities
The position handles daily press operations for the organization, including media relations, social media posts, program webpage management, and program promotion. It also provides assistance in recruitment and transfer, supports game events recording statistics and operations, and liaises with CCCAA for tasks related to sports information. The position requires knowledge in Health, Exercise Science, with an emphasis in Intercollegiate Athletics.
- Keeps in-game live statistics via computer-based data entry for all plays (covering 13 sports and 150–200 home contests annually).
- Maintains, designs, and updates webpage tasks for the program at www.sdcityknights.com.
- Takes team photos and individual portraits and creates athlete profiles and interviews.
- Creates and maintains athlete and team archives/history.
- Creates videos for team advertising.
- Maintains and runs social media for the sports program (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram) and connects program activities to instructional course information.
- Liaises with local media and neighboring colleges.
- Supports recruitment and transfer efforts to four-year universities.
- Provides news and bulletins to campus.
- Performs necessary compliance activities related to rules and statistical analysis.
- Participates in conference SID group for alignment.
- Assists students with promotion to four-year universities.
- Acts as designee of game administration/observer when Athletic Director is split between locations.
- Occasionally covers 4–5 separate games in a single day.
- Maintains knowledge of requirements for all 13 sports teams.
- Attends all athletics-related meetings and some away contests as needed.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.
- Any Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional experience; OR
- Any Associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience; OR
- The equivalent.
FOREIGN DEGREES: Applicants with degrees from outside the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association (NACES or ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be attached during the application process. An original evaluation must be presented at the time of hire.
EQUIVALENCY: If you do not possess the exact degrees or expect to complete the degree before teaching starts, please submit a "Request for Equivalency Form" with your application.

Pay Information
Salary placement is contingent upon official transcripts and verifications. Instructors with advanced coursework or experience are placed on the appropriate class and step on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules, effective the first month after receipt of official transcripts and verifications.
