Environmental Graphic Designer

A Day in the Life of an Environmental Graphic Designer You will be part of the Graphic Design team, collaborating with urban designers, landscape architects, planners, and engineers to help users engage with the built environment. You will bridge 2D and 3D design, applying visual communication to help users understand and navigate streets, trails, and transit environments. You will contribute to stakeholder outreach and design workshops, concept plans, design guidelines, wayfinding strategies, branding, signage, and map design, producing deliverables from presentations and reports to design intent documents and final artwork. Opportunities in urban design, illustration, and 3D renderings are available depending on your background and skills.
The EGD team currently includes designers in Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, and Austin, and you’ll have opportunities to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across Toole Design's 19 offices nationwide.
Salary Target salary:
$72,000.00 to $80,000.00
with flexibility for exceptionally qualified candidates.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, industrial design, landscape architecture, or related field from an accredited college or university and/or comparable work experience in lieu of a degree
3+ years of graphic design experience
Excellent typography, color, and layout skills
Proficiency in graphic production using Adobe Creative Suite
Some experience in 3D design preferred, such as with CADTools, SketchUp, SignAgent, and the preparation of signage and wayfinding drawings. Please apply if you have other types of 3D experience and a strong interest to learn.
Strong logic and writing skills supporting the development of sign locations and messaging
Enthusiasm and interest in human-centered design

Work Schedule This full-time position typically requires a 40-hour work week and will be based in our Seattle office. We offer flexibility to work from home 2 days per week and provide the necessary equipment. The Seattle office is located in the heart of Seattle's Business District, near Pike Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, Central Public Library, and Waterfront. It is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit or ferry. RapidRide lines C, D, and E stop nearby, and multiple Sound Transit lines are within a short walk. Bike lanes are close by on 2nd and 4th avenues.
