This is a volunteer opportunity to help Oakland Serves support high school students, focusing on underserved and minority communities. We work with OUSD, schools and teachers to identify where mentors can have the biggest impact on student achievement and match volunteer mentors with classrooms and individual students to help more students graduate.
Overview
We are seeking a Bay Area-based content creator to help us tell the story about our high school classroom mentors. Local volunteers help in high school classrooms to help students progress to graduation. There is always a demand for more volunteers to support our work with underserved students in critical classes.
Responsibilities
- Help with our blog, newsletter, social media and/or other outlets for spreading our work and raising our profile in the Bay Area.
- Tell the story of our classroom mentors and the impact of volunteers on student achievement.
- Collaborate with volunteers and staff to develop content that highlights our programs and outcomes.
Qualifications
- Interest in education and community work; ability to contribute content for blogs, newsletters, social media, and other channels.
- Strong writing or storytelling skills a plus; willingness to learn and adapt to our audiences.
