Summary of Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager II, Office of Business Services, the Supervising Librarian II is responsible for managing the Transportation Library in Sacramento. The incumbent develops and implements policies and procedures supporting library operations and meeting service and access goals. This position also manages the Department's Records Management Program, including microfilming of all vital records, and is responsible for the Headquarters Commute Management. The Supervising Librarian II supervises a staff of Senior Librarians and an Associate Governmental Program Analyst.
Special Requirements
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required. The SOQ should be no more than two pages, Arial 12 font, and include responses to specific questions with references to corresponding numbers. A resume or cover letter will not substitute for the SOQ. See below for required content:
- Requisite educational background: Masters Degree in Library Science/Library and Information Science
- Demonstrated supervisory experience in libraries, including staff supervision and project management
- Experience with effective communication practices with staff and stakeholders
- Experience planning and managing an outreach program or large public-facing initiative
- Experience leading meetings, trainings, or professional events
- Experience with government publications and/or highly technical collections
Failure to complete the SOQ may result in disqualification for interview. Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If education is used for eligibility, provide unofficial transcripts or diplomas for verification. Unofficial transcripts accepted; foreign transcripts require U.S. equivalency evaluation.
