Assistant Professor of Music role at Mississippi Valley State University
Mississippi Valley State University invites qualified candidates to apply for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Music beginning academic year 2025-2026. We are seeking an innovative, motivated, committed recruiter, performing artist, and/or researcher to teach Applied Piano, Class Piano, and to accompany faculty and student recitals. Candidates will be expected to recruit and grow a piano studio while advising and retaining piano majors. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to maintain an active performance and/or research profile, serve on university and department committees, and host the annual MVSU Piano Festival. It is expected that the best candidate will be committed to fostering an environment of collegiality.
Responsibilities
- Teach Applied Piano, Class Piano, and accompany faculty and student recitals.
- Recruit and grow a piano studio; advise and retain piano majors.
- Maintain an active performance and/or research profile.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance (or the equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications
- University teaching experience.
- Ability to teach other music-related courses if needed and as appropriate.
- Ability to execute minor piano technician duties.
- Utilization and commitment to technology in piano studies.
