Position Announcement

Design with purpose-help shape how students and leaders experience policy and politics. The Gary R. Herbert Institute for Public Policy at UVU is hiring a Student Graphic Design Intern to create visuals for events, social media, and campaigns. You'll work on everything from posters and brochures to digital ads and web content, collaborating with a team that values creativity and fresh ideas. It's a chance to grow your portfolio, sharpen your skills, and see your designs make a real impact.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Manages the creative and design processes for digital assets, print materials, and websites used for advertising, promotion, community outreach, student outreach, digital marketing, live events, etc
  • Plans and prepares art layouts for projects and follows specified requirements within designated schedules. Coordinates and deploys artwork and advertising campaigns across all Institute platforms and mediums
  • Develops visual communication standards and style guides for Institute's marketing materials. Proofreads, compares, and verifies the accuracy of all details for assigned projects
  • Manages brand identity ensuring consistency with University expectations
  • Organizes and maintains digital image library
  • Digitally archives all projects on completion
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
  • Must be a current UVU student
  • Previous experience helping with events preferred
  • Experience in managing creative projects and graphic design
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Experience with graphic design and the creative process for both print and digital materials
  • Understanding of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools
  • Proficiency in creating social media content for events, organizations, and brands
  • Strong grasp of color, composition, and layout to create compelling visual storytelling
  • Familiarity with branding and the ability to work within Utah Valley University's brand guidelines
  • Effective project management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency in design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Flash, Final Cut Pro, Canva, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to accept feedback and adapt creative designs accordingly
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Skilled in balancing a challenging workload with multiple timelines
  • Ability to maintain a personal task list to ensure timely completion of design projects
  • Adaptability in adjusting design styles and visual tones to fit different event types while maintaining brand consistency
  • Creative mindset with the ability to generate fresh, innovative ideas for marketing and visual communication
