As a tutor on the Varsity Tutors Platform, you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a real impact on students’ learning journeys—all from the comfort of your home.

What We Look For In a Tutor

• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Expertise in AP English Literature and Composition and the ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles.
• Prior tutoring or teaching experience and graduate-level education are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide online AP English Literature and Composition tutoring through the Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform.
• Set your own schedule and tutor as much as you’d like.
• Prepare lessons and adapt to individual student needs.
• Communicate progress with students and/or guardians as appropriate.

Compensation and How It Works

• Base contract rates start at $18/hour and can increase for specialized subjects; potential to earn up to $40/hour with ongoing sessions with the same student.
• Get paid up to twice per week for tutoring sessions you conduct and invoice.
• Our platform handles logistics; you invoice for sessions and we manage payments.

• 1-on-1 Online Tutoring: Provide personalized instruction to individual students.
• Instant Tutoring: Accept on-demand tutoring requests when you’re available.
