Role Overview
The Investigative Reporter will research, write, and publish in-depth stories that illuminate the lived realities of students facing housing insecurity. Activities include interviews, data analysis, freedom of information requests, and community listening. The work aims to expose systemic gaps while amplifying voices often underrepresented.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and report on stories related to youth homelessness, education disparities, policy failures, and grassroots responses
- Conduct sensitive, ethical interviews with students, families, educators, and community advocates
- Fact-check to ensure accuracy, integrity, and transparency in all reporting
- Draft and publish investigative stories that inform and engage readers
Qualifications & Requirements
- Interest in truth, justice, and narrative accountability
- Ability to research, analyze data, and tell compelling stories
- Commitment to volunteering with a 4-6 hour weekly schedule for at least three months
