Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer. The ideal candidate is technically savvy, detail-oriented, and able to build comprehensive training manuals, e-learning materials, and documentation frameworks from the ground up. This role will collaborate closely with stakeholders, project teams, and change management functions to design, develop, and deliver high-quality training and documentation across multiple workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Documentation & Training Development
  • Create, develop, and maintain technical training manuals, guides, and documentation modules.
  • Manage and update documentation with 300+ modifications and workstreams, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Design training outlines, handouts, testing scenarios, and classroom/laboratory exercises.
  • Develop interactive and digital learning materials with hyperlinks for online use.
  • Training Program Design & Delivery
  • Define training objectives and expected learning outcomes.
  • Create online training modules using eLearning content tools such as Camtasia, Captivate, or MyLearning.
  • Build, test, and administer training modules in the Learning Management System (e.g., D2L).
  • Conduct training sessions, administer written/practical exams, and evaluate trainee performance.
  • Disseminate online evaluations and write performance reports for continuous improvement.
  • Implementation & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with stakeholders to build and maintain the training framework.
  • Attend seminars and functional meetings as a representative of the Change Management team.
  • Participate in system testing prior to training delivery to ensure accuracy of training content.
  • Create training plans including documentation, screen prints, handouts, outlines, and interactive modules.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer or Instructional Designer in higher education or large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Strong technical proficiency with:
  • MS Office Suite
  • ServiceNow
  • SQL (basic queries/understanding)
  • Demonstrated ability to create technical training manuals and modules with high attention to detail.
  • Experience designing and delivering training within a Learning Management System (D2L preferred).
  • Proficiency in eLearning content creation tools such as Camtasia, Captivate, or MyLearning.
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and workstreams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
