Overview

A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic / small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation: Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
  • Customer Service: Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers; maintain positive relationships with clients through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and equipment setup is working properly; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; foster hotel/client relationships.
  • Technical Ability: Understand the technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Systems Knowledge: Understand company processes, follow procedures, complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to determine equipment scheduled for setup and strike; interact with other staff and outside vendors for equipment; utilize floor up-selling techniques and work with clients to finalize invoices; complete order entries in Navigator as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Internal applicants must meet all training and certification requirements as determined by Encore’s Global Learning Training Program in their current position, and for the position applied to.
  • External applicants must meet/validate and complete all training and certifications required for this position within one year.
  • 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
  • 1 year of audiovisual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for team members who may operate Company vehicles.
  • Additional DOT requirements may need to be met if applicable.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Hotel: Work is performed in a hotel/convention center environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures and dust. Conditions range from moderately quiet to noisy. Team members will work with high-end AV equipment and may be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders, and may work at multiple locations. Working times include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Appearance guidelines apply as defined by Encore.

Warehouse: Work is performed at event venues and in a warehouse environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures and dust. Conditions vary from moderately quiet to noisy. Team members may travel to venues and work with high-end AV equipment. Irregular hours and on-call status may apply.
