Open Access Project Librarian – The University of Oklahoma Libraries seeks to recruit an Open Access (OA) Project Librarian in the Open Initiatives and Scholarly Communication (OISC) department of the Digital Strategies and Innovation (DSI) Division. Reporting to the Associate Dean for DSI, who is serving as the Interim Director of OISC, this role performs tasks related to the mediated deposit of faculty, staff, and student scholarship in SHAREOKTM, OU’s institutional repository including working in the administrative backend of SHAREOKTM, documenting workflows, corresponding with OU authors about their deposit, and other duties as assigned. This position requires considerable judgment and initiative to achieve specific deliverables for increasing OU author content in SHAREOKTM. The ideal candidate is goal-oriented and outcomes-driven.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Correspond with OU authors about their article submissions to SHAREOKTM, including providing guidance on qualifying submissions and required permissions to submit to the repository on their behalf.
  • Create metadata describing articles and partner with other departments to bulk upload to SHAREOKTM.
  • Upload individual article submissions.
  • Review author self-submissions and publish to SHAREOKTM.
  • Manage the email ticketing system for support requests, including troubleshooting, statistics requests, etc.
  • Assist in testing and feedback sessions for SHAREOK workflow and system integrations handling deposits and uploads of faculty works in compliance with the OA policy.
  • May participate in presentations to librarians and faculty on the Open Access (OA) policy.
  • Participate in team meetings and team efforts to implement the OA policy on schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree; AND 12 months of academic library experience

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science.
  • Knowledge of scholarly communication concepts in academic libraries, specifically open access and copyright.

Skills

  • Experience building and sustaining effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, executing outreach activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with end-users at varying technological skill levels.
  • Excellent public speaking skills.
  • Highly organized and ability to track multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to service excellence.
