Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Butler, Fairman & Seufert is seeking a Proposal & Technical Writing Coordinator who can turn complex engineering ideas into clear, compelling proposals and client materials. This highly collaborative, deadline-driven role is ideal for a skilled writer and editor who thrives on teamwork, creativity, and managing multiple projects with exceptional organization and attention to detail. The position may be full-time or part-time, with some remote work available based on experience and demonstrated performance.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Proposal & Content Development (Primary Focus)

  • Develop, write, and edit proposals, qualifications packages, and other client deliverables, translating technical information into clear, persuasive, and client-focused content.
  • Edit and proofread technical documentation for grammar, consistency, clarity, and precision, ensuring a unified tone and message.
  • Collaborate with technical staff, sales, and marketing teams to create presentations and other persuasive materials that showcase the firm's capabilities.
Marketing & Brand Support (Secondary Responsibilities)
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of marketing materials, including newsletters, press releases, brochures, and conference collateral.
  • Provide limited support for website updates, social media posting, and graphics/branding needs - with potential for expanded responsibilities based on interest and capability.
  • Assist in maintaining client database records, tracking sales goals, preparing reports, and coordinating related meetings.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical writing and editing expertise, ideally within architecture, engineering, construction (AEC), or another technical industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite, with emphasis on InDesign.
  • Hands-on experience with proposal creation and coordination preferred.
  • Strong creative design skills a plus.
