Overview

Senior Digital Content Manager for the NYU Grossman Medical School and NYU Grossman Long Island Medical School web properties (med.nyu.edu & medli.nyu.edu). This role has a significant impact on the delivery of content across NYU Langone Health's .EDU websites, focusing on developing and implementing a content strategy that meets the needs of the sites’ audiences. The role involves ideation, creation, and execution of content that leverages technology to increase website engagement and promote the NYU Langone brand. Reporting to the Director, Digital Experience, this position will drive meaningful engagement on the .EDU websites through storytelling guided by strategic insights and data.

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Digital Content Manager for the NYU Grossman Medical School and NYU Grossman Long Island Medical School web properties (med.nyu.edu & medli.nyu.edu). This position will have a significant impact on the delivery of content across NYU Langone Health's .EDU websites, focusing on developing and implementing a content strategy that meets the needs of the sites’ audiences. The role will be responsible for the ideation, creation, and execution of content that leverages cutting-edge technology to increase website engagement and promote the NYU Langone brand.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee an actionable website strategy to align with institutional goals.
  • Participate in relevant stakeholder meetings, bringing strategic perspectives based on insights, data, and website best practices.
  • Receive and analyze content requests from department and institutional stakeholders to develop engaging digital experiences for the .EDU channels.
  • Manage multiple content initiatives, supporting development of a proactive .EDU content strategy agenda, embedding emerging trends and audience insights.
  • Support the website needs of the research community, identifying opportunities to promote discoveries on internal and external channels.
  • Establish and maintain an editorial calendar for timely and relevant content updates.
  • Define and incorporate audience insights and .EDU performance data to meet audience needs and improve user experience.
  • Execute and enhance organic growth initiatives to improve search reach for strategic pages.
  • Collaborate with the .ORG content lead for cross-site dependencies or optimizations.
  • Editorial and Content Development
  • Serve as the editorial lead for all .EDU content, overseeing copy, graphics, and multimedia to meet standards and objectives.
  • Ensure content consistency and quality across all .EDU initiatives, aligning with the brand voice and goals.
  • Review and approve final content pieces to communicate the intended message and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Lead a team of writers, editors, and content creators, providing direction and feedback for engaging content.
  • Manage content timelines, workflows, and resources to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • When needed, craft original content in alignment with project requirements.
  • Content Production and Governance
  • Establish content governance processes, guidelines, and standards; develop and communicate content standards for .EDU as needed.
  • Collaborate to ensure content aligns with NYU Langone’s broader strategy to increase reputation and amplify brand.
  • Become a subject matter expert on the Drupal component library to support engaging web experiences; provide input on future needs based on functionality gaps.
  • Evaluate performance against KPIs to make data-driven enhancements to content.
  • Monitor and improve audience engagement across all .EDU initiatives.
  • Align SEO, GEO, and AI Search requirements with content strategy and audience needs; implement SEO, GEO, and AI Search to optimize content and drive traffic.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing technology, IT, brand, and other teams to build a world-class website experience.
  • Coordinate with content leads to align release schedules and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders, including physicians and researchers, to identify opportunities for new and curated content.
  • Meet with stakeholders to understand business requirements and propose solutions given capabilities and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Media Relations and Enterprise Communications teams to optimize opportunities for content distribution and promotion.
  • Partner with Brand Standards to ensure content aligns with brand guidelines.
  • Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of content professionals, fostering creativity and collaboration.
  • Set performance goals and provide feedback and development opportunities.
  • Identify and address skill gaps, facilitating training or recruiting as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in content strategy, website management, educational content development, or related field
  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Experience as an editorial lead or ability to function as one
  • Strong storytelling and engagement capabilities for web audiences
  • Effective verbal and written communication and stakeholder management
  • Ability to learn from data-driven insights
  • Proficiency with tools to improve content creation, distribution, and performance tracking
  • Strong leadership to manage a team of creatives
  • Experience with content management systems (Drupal, Adobe Experience Manager, etc)
  • Familiarity with UX writing best practices and accessibility guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field
  • Experience in content strategy and management within the non-profit sector
  • Experience in healthcare industry, focusing on medical writing and content creation
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
