Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing standardized tests and observation.
  • Create individualized treatment strategies that meet both immediate goals and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing requirements.
  • Deliver personalized speech therapy sessions concentrating on communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing.
  • Work collaboratively with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to form integrated care plans.
  • Offer education to patients and families, providing tools for progress beyond clinical sessions.
  • Support inpatient evaluations and interventions as necessary, guaranteeing consistency across all aspects of care.
  • Ensure precise and timely documentation that meets state, federal, and organizational standards.
  • Stay informed of developments within the field through ongoing education and interactions with peers.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet ASHA certified.
  • Certifications: State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the first month of employment.
  • Skills: Expertise in evidence-based therapies for all age groups, superb interpersonal communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams; ability to tailor therapy approaches to diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds; strong clinical judgment and problem-solving; proficiency in electronic medical records and documentation practices.
