Position Summary

The Library Academic Resource Specialist performs various support tasks with excellent customer service skills for students (undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral), faculty, and staff at McMillen Library on the Fort Wayne campus and virtually. This is a part-time position (15-20 hours per week) with afternoon-evening shifts. The schedule is determined by the needs of the library and is subject to change.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reference services to McMillen Library patrons in person, by phone, via chat, and through the ticketing system
  • Utilize online catalogs, licensed databases, research guides, eBooks, and print books to help patrons find resources
  • Use the library system (FOLIO) for patron transactions
  • Provide basic technical support for copiers/printers, computer workstations, and Wi-Fi
  • Assist with library programming
  • Record patron interactions in the library’s reference analytics software
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in education or libraries is preferred
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams and Zoom
  • Familiarity with LibGuides and archiving is preferred

Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.
