Position Summary

Indiana Tech offers both campus-based, online, and blended learning. The Library Academic Resource Specialist performs various support tasks with excellent customer service skills to students (undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral), faculty, and staff at McMillen Library on the Fort Wayne campus and virtually. This is a part-time 15-20 hours per week set schedule position with afternoon-evening shifts throughout the work week. The schedule is determined by the needs of the library and is subject to change.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide reference services to McMillen Library patrons, including in-person, by phone, chat service, and ticketing system
  • Utilize online catalogs, licensed databases, research guides, eBooks, and print books to help patrons find resources
  • Use the library's system (FOLIO) for patron transactions
  • Provide basic technical support for all users in the areas of copiers/printers, computer workstations, and Wi-Fi
  • Supervise McMillen Library's student workers during shifts
  • Assist with library programming
  • Record patron interactions in the library's reference analytics software
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
  • College degree preferred
  • 1+ year of working in education or libraries is preferred
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams and Zoom
  • Familiarity with LibGuides and archiving is preferred

Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
