Responsibilities

• Assists patrons (60%): Performs circulation desk duties; checks materials in and out; registers patrons.
• Collects payments for lost or damaged items and updates patron records accordingly.
• Answers routine inquiries and refers patrons for reference assistance.
• Answers directional questions and refers patrons to appropriate personnel.
• Answers telephone calls; provides information and assistance; refers callers to appropriate personnel.
• Assists and instructs patrons in the use of the print management system.
• Instructs patrons in the use of reference resources.
• Adds and removes Banner holds on student accounts.
• Assists patrons in the use of the presentation lab.

• Provides administrative support for library operations (20%): Responsible for taking payments for various library fees.
• Maintains monthly statistics in area of responsibility.
• Completes a variety of regular and special reports.

• Assists with library programming (10%): Assists in the planning and coordination of library programming.
• Develops library displays and signage for events.

• Performs a variety of related duties (10%): Sorts and shelves books; reads and straightens shelves; recommends changes to library policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• Associate's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience

• More than two years of related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in libraries with automated catalog system and audio/video editing programs.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of library operations and procedures; knowledge of college policies and procedures; knowledge of customer service principles; knowledge of computers and job-related software.
• Interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public; oral and written communication; ability to provide quality customer services.
