Qualifications
Give evidence of a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ through personal Bible study and prayer. Training in worship ministry that includes at least a bachelor’s in Christian ministry/music or equivalent ministry experience. Live a lifestyle above reproach that is fit for service in Christian ministry. Complete agreement with the EFCA Statement of Faith. Detailed knowledge of and agreement with Highland Community Church’s mission statement and core values. A compelling leader who inspires volunteers while shepherding the worship team members. Ability to lead Sunday morning worship on guitar or keyboard. Position
The worship and media arts pastor or director reports to the senior pastor. He or she will attend weekly staff meetings on Tuesday mornings and schedule a weekly one-on-one meeting with the senior pastor for planning, development and encouragement. The senior pastor will conduct an annual performance review and approve vacation day requests (no more than 3 Sundays per year). Responsibilities
Worship Ministry A. Plan and lead Sunday morning worship services. B. Select music that is theologically correct, appropriate for congregational singing and in line with the theme of each week’s service. C. Lead weekly worship team rehearsal. D. Develop and oversee a process for adding new worship team members that balances musical gifting with spiritual maturity. E. Use the worship ministry as a discipleship opportunity by incorporating prayer, sharing and teaching. F. Provide opportunity for worship team members to grow in their musical skill and/or their theological understanding through training, conferences or resources. G. Minister to worship team members during difficult seasons. Technology Ministry A. Ensure that weekly music slides are prepared and match the words being sung on stage. B. Work with office staff to ensure that sermon series graphics and announcement slides are prepared for each week. C. Develop a personal understanding of sound board, video cameras and other technology in order to teach volunteers how to use equipment. D. Oversee the staffing and training of AV team members, including having slide team members attend practice as necessary to be prepared for Sunday service. E. Recommend equipment purchases as necessary. Recruit and train volunteers how to use the technology available. F. Ensure that high quality video of services is captured for live streaming and social media/website archiving. General Ministry Responsibilities A. Pursue appropriate ministry credentialing with the EFCA. B. Coordinate an annual ministry appreciation event for worship team members. C. Promote outreach during Sunday service when appropriate. D. Maintain strong team chemistry with the ministry staff at Highland. Agree to quickly and biblically resolve any conflicts that may arise. E. Be available to complete other tasks and responsibilities assigned by the senior pastor. F. Regularly attend and be involved with the ongoing ministry activities of Highland Community Church. Duration
The director of worship will continue to serve indefinitely. If the director of worship chooses to resign, notice of 60 days will be given. Highland will give notice of at least 90 days in the case of staffing changes, except in the case of immorality or other emergency removal for cause. About this Church
