The full-time Associate Pastor in Music/Administration will serve as the primary person to coordinate Music Ministry and oversee Administrative responsibilities of Hollywood Baptist Church. In addition, he should be an ordained minister and responsible to assist the Senior Pastor with ministerial and support needs as they arise. The Associate Pastor may be assigned specific tasks to perform or areas of ministry to oversee and administrate and will work collaboratively under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor. In the absence of the Senior Pastor, the Associate Pastor is responsible to the Board of Deacons.
Qualifications
- A. Biblical references: Acts 20:28-32; I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4
- B. Adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
- C. A heart of worship and service to God demonstrated through a vibrant prayer life and a life surrendered to Christ.
- D. Ability to cooperate with all staff to promote unity and oneness and strive to carry out the entire ministry plan of the church.
- E. Ability and commitment to maintain personal standards of Godliness based on Biblical Principles which results in an uncompromised testimony within the church and community from which a credible ministry originates.
- F. Able to communicate effectively with one-on-one, small and large group settings exhibiting a pleasing attitude that is confident and enthusiastic.
- G. Ability to be actively involved and supportive of the overall life of the ministry, including all ministry areas and leaders.
- H. Must be circumspect in dress and demeanor.
Associate Pastor Responsibilities
- A. May be assigned a specific area of ministry to oversee.
- B. In the absence of the Senior Pastor, the Associate Pastor will be responsible to take phone calls, oversee and lead worship services, and other ministerial duties that might arise.
- C. Assist with visitation as directed by the Senior Pastor and assist in any other needs that arise in this area.
- D. Will be called upon to share in the pulpit ministry in the absence of the Senior Pastor.
- E. Maintain continued growth to his personal calling and walk with the Lord through consistent Bible study and prayer.
- F. Develops and exercises personal evangelism within and without the church.
- G. Will be called upon to handle some administrative responsibilities for the Senior Pastor where qualified.
- H. Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
General Responsibilities
- A. Attend committee meetings that pertain to his area of influence, including but not limited to the Church Council, Music Ministry, Leadership Team Meetings, etc.
- B. Meet with Senior Pastor on a weekly basis for prayer, collaborative planning and evaluation.
- C. Maintain personal priorities with his wife and family as the spiritual leader.
- D. Give graciously to Hollywood Baptist Church through tithes and offerings.
- E. Attend seminars and conferences designed for ministry as approved by the church.
- F. Required to adhere to the church constitution.
- G. Computer competencies related to service planning and presentation.
- H. Demonstrate responsibility in being punctual and committed to the ministry programs of the church.
- I. It will be requested of him and his family to become members of Hollywood Baptist Church within 30 days of employment.
- J. Will need to reside within a reasonable distance of the church.
Music Ministry Responsibilities
- A. Shall develop, organize, and administer the overall Music ministry of the church.
- B. Be responsible for congregational singing at all worship services.
- C. Organize choir anthems each week for the Sunday morning service.
- D. Oversee an appointed committee that schedules special music for Sunday services and revivals.
- E. Coordinate the musical training programs for the children and youth.
- F. Be responsible for special music and musicians to be invited for revivals, homecoming and other special events such as weddings and funerals.
- G. Maintain a library of church music that is neatly organized and filed alphabetically.
- H. Effectively communicate with the musicians and sound room staff to plan services each week.
- I. Prepare an annual budget for the Music Ministry to be presented to the Finance Committee for their approval. Final approval will come from the church at the annual business meeting.
- J. Keep records of copied music as required by the CCLI License.
Compensation and Evaluation
- A. Salary: __________________________ annually upon employment. Salary must be approved by the Finance Committee and church.
- B. The Senior Pastor or Leadership Team will provide an annual evaluation of the Associate Pastor's performance.
- C. Vacation: One year to five years of employment – two weeks’ vacation. After five years of employment vacation amount will be evaluated.
Election Process
- A. To be elected by written ballot by not less than three-fourths (75%) majority vote.
