Job Type: 1-year W2 contract with the potential to be extended

Compensation: $75-$82/hr

Our high-profile client in the Financial and Banking industry is looking for a technical writer to create technical documentation for consumption by external partners, especially developers looking to learn about, access, and implement Product solutions. The primary but not sole channel for this content will be the partner website. The technical writer will also be responsible for consulting and helping create a thoughtful, intuitive, and effective user experience for developers who navigate through the partner site along with other associated channels of communication.

This role requires an individual with technical coding skills, an understanding of APIs and SDKs and the ability to communicate in writing to a developer and other technical audiences in simple and easy to read English. This collaborative writer will partner with internal product managers, engineers, marketing, Go-To-Market teams, and other integral teams to produce world-class user experience and content.

Responsibilities

  • Create technical documentation and instructions regarding APIs, SDKs, etc.; encompassing information architecture to line-level clarity
  • Help establish a content framework for developing, distributing, and meeting end user requirements and increases reusability of content
  • Establish and communicate standards for information types, structures, and assembly so that content is organized logically with the end-user in mind
  • Consolidate content from multiple sources, standardize common content across different products, understand relationship to other products and present in a cohesive way that's easy for users to understand
  • Collaborate with different Products and technology teams to gather content (i.e. product concept, detailed use cases, step-by-step how to implementation guides, code samples, API reference) and delivery quality documentation to be used by different user personas esp. Developers
  • Ensure documentation meets needs of multiple audiences in the payments ecosystem (issuers, acquirers, payment service providers, merchants, etc.)
  • Consult and provide thought leadership around the user experience - how developers experience / navigate, engage with, interact with DGN products
  • Conceptualize and help integrate solutions to automate and actively optimize DGN technical documentation

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in technical / developer documentation
  • 6+ years of total technical experience (including technical writing)
  • Java – Programming language used for most API development
  • Extensive experience with docs-as-code (git, markdown)
  • Outspoken and like to take ownership. Determined to influence content, drive documentation strategy, user experience and tooling
  • Understands APIs and has development or technical / coding skills (can understand what developers are saying); familiar with modern web services, APIs, and general developer tools
  • Previous payments / fintech experience is preferred, but not required.
