The hiring rate for this position is $23.96/hr.
Under the general direction of the Librarian II, or designee. Performs a variety of professional work which requires considerable knowledge of library service and how it relates to the community. Responsible for the application of professional library principles and practices to various assignments in all areas of Library operations in accordance with all applicable City codes and Departmental policies. Duties are generally performed independently. Work is reviewed through reports, observations, and obtained results.
- Provides program support, website and social media updates.
- Performs collection development in assigned genres; conducts weeding projects.
- Develops and implements programs for designated age groups.
- Provides library outreach to the community and assists in special projects.
- Manages functions of the service desk including patron requests for printing, scans, and faxes.
- Assists in patron internet questions and trouble shoots computer issues as needed.
- Responds to patron inquiries via email, phone, and face-to-face questions.
- Manages and communicates with adult program volunteers; coordinates teen volunteers.
- Assists in library program public relation efforts, including website, TV rotators, flyers, and press releases.
- Responsible for monthly Departmental statistical reporting of database usage, program attendance, and other measurable deliverables.
- Manages Library program implementation and management, set-up and coordination.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Including Librarian in-charge and facility closing duties. Evening and weekend required.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILTITIES, AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of library methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of computer applications, e-reader technology, and electronic resources.
- Ability to answer research and computer related questions; and locate answers using electronic resources as well as other resources.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with fellow staff and patrons.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work with all age groups.
- Ability to demonstrate scheduling flexibility to meet the Library’s operational needs.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in Library Science required; supplemented with six (6) months experience in a public library setting. Valid Florida Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction)

- Ability to communicate both oral and written
