Job Posting Title: Faculty, Music (Voice)

Job Description Summary: The ACC Music Department is seeking a full-time Instructor of Voice to teach Music courses (Applied Voice lessons, Diction, Opera). Additional courses may be assigned based on qualifications and departmental needs. Teaching duties may use multiple instructional modalities (face-to-face, online, hybrid). A successful candidate will work with music faculty on curriculum, standards, and accreditation and be active in professional music organizations. This is a 10.5-month contract starting January 2026.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare and teach Voice courses to students using department-approved learning outcomes and a variety of instructional strategies suited for community college students and the discipline.
  • Participate in departmental governance, curriculum review, program review, assessment of student learning outcomes, and related activities.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback aligned with program and departmental expectations.
  • Mentor students in the Music program.
  • Provide teaching and mentoring that does not discriminate on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, political affiliation, or other protected categories.
  • Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
  • Support division and department goals through active engagement in planning and decision-making.
  • Serve on college-wide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by department leadership.

Additional Duties

  • Teach Italian, German, French Diction and IPA; assist with directing Opera Workshop.

Technology

  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications, online resources, and classroom technologies.
  • Proficiency with an online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard) to develop course content and perform administrative duties (posting office hours, syllabi, etc.).

Principal Professional Standards

  • Appropriate use of the college's learning management system.
  • Meet deadlines for attendance certification and final grades.
  • Participate in graduation, general assemblies, and official college functions.
  • Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve retention and success.
  • Attend and participate in college-wide, campus, department, or other meetings and activities.
  • Demonstrate civility and collegiality in all interactions.
  • Comply with college policies and professional standards for teaching in a community college.

Required Education

In accordance with SACSCOC requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Music or Music Education; or
  • Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Music.

Note: SACSCOC requirements may differ depending on the courses taught within the discipline.

Preferred Work Experience

  • Experience as an instructor of Voice in a higher education institution.
  • Tenor, Baritone, Bass-Baritone, or Bass voice type preferred.

Salary Range

$63,444 - $94,781 (Based on a 10.5 month contract to start Spring 2026)
