Senior UI/UX Designer (onsite)

Location: Austin, Texas • Employment type: Temp Project • Estimated Duration: 10 months with possible extensions • Work Setting: 100% on client site (no telecommuting or remote work)

Required

• Availability to work 100% of the time at the Client’s site in Austin, TX (required)
• Hands-on experience designing user interfaces and experiences for enterprise systems, including wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and Sketch. (4+ years)
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams, translating business needs into intuitive design solutions that align with accessibility and branding standards. (4+ years)
• Experience applying UX design principles such as hierarchy, contrast, and alignment to create responsive and accessible web and mobile interfaces. (4+ years)
• Experience creating wireframes and prototypes that support agile development cycles, including sketch-to-visual fidelity transitions. (4+ years)

Preferred

• Experience designing graphical diagrams and visual narratives to communicate timelines, workflows, and system architecture. (5+ years)
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate design workshops and feedback sessions with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs. (3+ years)
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead user research initiatives and journey mapping to gain deep insights into user interactions and identify opportunities for optimization.
• Proven UX Design Experience: Extensive portfolio demonstrating expertise in user research, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping (low and high-fidelity), and usability testing.
• Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies in accordance with established accessibility guidelines and branding standards.
• Collaborate with Code for America and cross-functional teams to apply industry best practices in UI/UX design.
• Engage in discovery workshops, feedback sessions, and sprint planning to ensure that design decisions are aligned with business objectives.
• Employ a comprehensive suite of tools—including Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and Hotjar—and implement usability testing, responsive design, and SEO optimization strategies.
• Experience with AI/ML Interfaces: Demonstrated experience designing user interfaces for systems that incorporate Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning, with a focus on explainable AI (XAI) and human-AI interaction principles.
